Risk Warning Regarding Recent “Multi-Sig Removal” Scams
Recently, we have received reports from multiple users that after their wallets were placed under “multi-signature control,” scammers proactively contacted them claiming they could help “remove the multi-signature,” “restore wallet permissions,” or “unfreeze assets.”
Common scam methods include:
1. Proactively contacting users through Telegram, WeChat groups, QQ groups, and other social platforms
2. Impersonating “technical staff,” “security teams,” or “official support”
3. Leaving contact information in transaction notes through on-chain spam transfers
4. Inducing users to pay “deposits,” “service fees,” “guarantee fees,” or “unlock fees”
5. Tricking users into providing mnemonic phrases, private keys, authorization signatures, or other sensitive information again
Scammers often forge:
Chat screenshots
Successful recovery cases
Transfer records
“Official certifications”
“Technical proof”
Please note:
All so-called “multi-signature removal services” are scams.
When a wallet becomes “multi-signed,” it does not mean the wallet system itself has been locked.
In most cases, the user downloaded a fake wallet or exposed their mnemonic phrase / private key through other means.
After obtaining the mnemonic phrase, scammers directly modify the wallet permissions and turn the address into a multi-signature controlled wallet.
Once the wallet permissions have been modified:
Unless the scammer who actually controls the wallet permissions is identified and voluntarily cooperates, there is no such thing as a “paid unlock,” “technical unlock,” or “remote unlock.”
Anyone claiming that they can:
Help remove the multi-signature
Restore wallet permissions
Unlock frozen assets
Recover assets through “guaranteed transactions” is a scammer.
